Our sponges

It comes from the union between the sun and the earth 🌱

The luffa plant comes from the same family of pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers and watermelons. It is a seasonal plant, which cycle starts towards the end of the month of April and ends in the last days of October. The interior of the luffa gourd creates a strong fiber that will eventually strengthen and form our sponge.

Processing

After the harvest of the gourds we process them by peeling them off and taking out all the seeds inside the fiber. When we finally have the 'naked' gourd, we proceed to treat the luffa with sodium percarbonate (a sustainable alternative to bleach) to whiten and sanitize our sponge. Finally, we hang our sponges to dry out in a controlled and germ-free environment

The final product

Once our luffas are dry and ready to use, we cut the fiber to size and we add hemp rope to allow the sponge to be hung compfortably after every use.Our choice to use hemp ropes allows our products to be 100% biodgradable. The wastes we produce by cutting the gourd will then be useful in producing soaps made of vegan glycerine, allowing us to avoid any waste of our products.
